After his television debut appearing on "Material World" on TLC, as a friend of a celebrity designer, Matthew Fashion made a first and beginning mark as an outrageous personality, with wit and a youthful exuberance. Fashion's love for entertainment and ability to catch the public's attention, has catapulted Matthew to have the honor of saying that he is the reason for his MTV debut on "NEXT" (a reality dating show) to be one of the highest rated shows on the network in 2005. Because of the impact of the fun and wild persona on MTV, Matthew has also appeared on E!'s "The Soup" as well as radio interviews and celebrity websites.
Most recently, the self proclaimed "Fashionality" has again appeared on MTV on the newest highly acclaimed and highest rated episode of "Exposed," was featured in episode I of season II of the smash hit show "Project Runway," hosted the West Hollywood Idol 2005 & 2006, been nominated as "Entertainer of the Year" in the 2005 West Hollywood Awards, as well as "Male Personality" in the 2006 West Hollywood Awards, and has filmed an outrageous pilot that is currently in post production stages. Matthew filmed a pilot for Mystic Art Pictures that is expected by critics to soar tremendously, has worked as an assistant stylist to the star stylist on cycle 7 of America's Next Top Model, and appeared on the highly rated "Strictly Sex with Doctor Drew" on the Discovery Health Network.
Matthew Fashion has also appeared in national entertainment magazines such as "Entertainment Weekly" and does weekly internet fashion critiques on celebrities and designers for TheLaEye.com (2 million readers a week). Hits on his fashion blog range in the thousands daily, and fan mail has already begun to pour in. Currently Matthew is the host of his own .. radio talk show, "Matthew Fashion, INSANITY" and is currently filming a reality show where he takes the attention as the starring core of the show (view teasers at www.xonger.com).
Matthew Fashion is a persona of his own, leaving behind but never forgetting his childhood past as a young actor. As early as Matthew can remember, he has been involved with theatre in school and in his hometown community of Fresno, CA. Fashion performed as a child in "Annie," "Beauty and the Beast," "Damn Yankees," and many more productions. At age 11, he filmed "The Beast Within," a Sierra .. production for a CD Rom computer game. But as Matthew entered Jr. High School, his family began to discourage his interest in entertainment. Over the next seven or so years, Matthew had to ignore his passion for the stage and screen.
After a very extensive journey of self discovery, Matthew has again decided to embark in to the world of entertainment as him self, a persona that is so largely desirable on his own. In Matthew Fashion's free time you may find him involved with many LGBTQ community organizations. Because of Matthew's continued support and activism for many causes, he was titled "Celebrity Grand Marshall" of Central California's Rainbow Pride 2006.
THE FASHIONALITY???
Matthew Fashion is currently the lead stylist for the clothing line "Glaza" where he tends to the models at live fashion shows, in the studio for private promotional shoots, and is in charge of placement of clothing on the "right" celebrities to represent the line. Matthew's duties at Glaza expand from making models and designers work as one backstage at the fashion show, to bringing the clothing to look it's very best and truly come to life on the runway through the way the fabric lays on the visual centerpieces for the event. Red Carpet premiers and parties where celebrities would promote the line is where Matthew Fashion comes in and makes sure that Glaza is accentuated in the most amazing light and perceived by the rest of America's public as more than "desirable."
In 2005, Matthew made what was planned to be no more than a usual appearance as one of the cast members of MTV's segmented dating show, "NEXT." However when the show aired, Matthew Fashion had consumed mostly all of the air time and had commanded the attention of the national viewers through his "out of the box" style and fashion. Showing that it was no longer about being like everyone else, and that a peice of fabric is more than just that, Matthew Fashion had introduced the concept of bringing all of the elements of what makes up a person and making the human being shine through in the clothing. "It is about what you wear, AND how you wear it, but most of all, it's about who is wearing it." Matthew set a new trend among the younger MTV generation... "wear what you feel." And not only has his eclipsing appearance on NEXT shown pop culture to wear on the outside what they feel on the inside, but to recognize the individuality in everyone and see the beuaty in what they wear, because thats who they are.
Professionally in the fashion industry, Matthew has taken his image and made it into a career in the style world. He has continued to make head way with being a personal wardrobe stylist and shopper for variouse celebrities known nationwide, and is now the exclusive Fashion Expert & Correspondent for TheLaEye.com, a premier .. magazine with currently over 2 million readers weakly (www.thelaeye.com). Matthew has done interviews on television regarding the hottest and not so hot trends, and just recently was an assistant wardrobe stylist to the star stylist on cycle 7 of America's Next Top Model. As an assistant stylist to Charlie Altuna on this season, Matthew's duties included pulling lines from top designers to dress the contestants as well as dress one of the celebrity panel judges, returns, fittings, stylings on shoots and paying attention to detail for final touches on the models as they shot in groups or individualy.
Years ago Matthew thought that he wanted to become a designer of clothing. After working in retail for a few years, he chose that it was not his best venue for his life. Instead, Matthew began to embark on combining his two loves, fashion and entertainment. He still creates his own personal peices so to reflect who he is on the inside and bring it out. At the 2005 West Hollywood Awards, Matthew wrapped himself in caution tape and made an outfit out of purely that medium, and made a statement "Watch out... Matthew Fashion is here!"
Matthew's own personal fashion choices are what makes him stand out from the crowd in a more than eclectic way. However, it is Matthew Fashion's character and professional experiences that have given him his self proclaimed title that has carried him and will continue to be his "aka." We give to you..." Joan Rivers, Norton, Johnny Noxville, Ellen, Lawrence Zarian, Mr. Blackwell, Madonna (as a business women), Pamela Anderson (as a humanitarian), Michael Jackson (as an artist), and my dear friend Michael, as I want to have the same heart as he does for people along with his generosity for mankind.
