After becoming a victim of identity theft several years ago, I began a journey that lasted several months to bring just one case of identity theft to rest. Once you are a victim, even one time, you will be a victim again! My identity has been compromised at least 5 more times since that first instance. After what I went through to do my own recovery, I learned a lot about this subject. I went on to become a CITRMS, a Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist and an Independent Associate with Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. Now, I use my certification to educate the public about how they can protect themselves and their families and even their businesses against becoming victims and when it happens, and it will, how to recover and get their lives back on track.
What is your current occupation? Do you enjoy it?
In my day job, I work for INDOT, the Indiana Department of Transportation. I enjoy what I do, even though the pay is low, the benefits are great! When I am not working as a State Employee, I produce podcasts, about 10 right now, in different subjects, and I am a New Media Consultant along with being a CITRMS. Everything I do, I enjoy.
What is your educational background? Are you currently in school?
I graduated High School in 1978 and went on to obtain an Associates Degree in Electronics. I hold several Microsoft Certifications as well as my Identity Theft Certification.
Describe your lifestyle and current relationship status:
I am married with 6 children and 12 grand-children. My wife and I have just moved into a new house, well new to us, and are currently remodeling it to fit our needs.
Do you have any vices (smoking/drinking/etc)? Describe:
I gave up smoking and drinking many years ago due to health issues. When you body starts to rebel and the pain is so great that you can't even stand up, you know it's time to quit. The doctor informed me that the smoking and drinking was the cause of my discomfort and to lay off for 30 days. I did so and never looked back.
Do you have any "heroes" in your life or your work? Describe:
I would have to say that my Dad is a hero to me. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease 5 years ago. The tremors got so bad he couldn't dress himself or even feed himself. 1 year ago, he bravely went through an experimental surgery that implanted a stimulator device with probes in his brain and when the device was activated, the tremors were 99% gone! Today, he can lead a fairly normal life, thanks to this experimental device.
Do you have a favorite quotation? Enter it here:
My favorite quote of all time is: "Time will tell, it always does!"
    What makes you happy? Why?
Being around my grand-children and watching them grow up and play. There's nothing more thrilling that seeing the joy in their faces.
    What makes you sad? Why?
That's a hard question to answer. There are so many things in this World that bring sadness. I can't mention just one, so I'll leave it at that.
Name five (5) items you can't live without:
My computer, the Internet, my family, my friends, my pets
    Describe your most "humbling" moment:
After a drunk driver hit me head-on, I suffered a broken hip and was laid up for 6 months unable to walk. After 3 months, I was well enough to get into a wheel chair and get around. The first time I went to a restaurant, I could feel everyone in the place just staring at me. I wanted to leave, but I knew I had to stay to maintain my own dignity. This made me realize what handicapped individuals go through every day of their lives.
Do you have favorite type of music? Favorite bands or singers?
I enjoy Contemporary Christian music. My favorite artist is Ray Boltz.
What type of films do you enjoy? Please give some examples:
Sci-Fi mainly. I am a big Trekkie, so all of the Star Trek Series and Movies.
Do you enjoy television? Which programs?
I enjoy the Stargate Series, including SG-1 and Atlantis. I also enjoyed Babylon 5 when it was on the air. Doctor Who, the original series and even the new series.
Do you like to read? If so, what books have you enjoyed recently?
I really don't read much, but I listen to audio books every chance I get. The latest one was "The Slight Edge" by Jeff Olson.
Do you follow sports? Which teams are you interested in?
I do not follow sports at all. I am the most inept person when it comes down to talking or watching sports.
Do you have any hobbies or other interests? Describe:
Podcasting, videocasting and New Media in general.
Where are your favorite places? Where would you like to go most?
I prefer to eat out in a "sit down" restaurant rather than go to a fast food joint. I just don't like the atmosphere of most of the places in business today.
